Short film on Uttarakhand disaster

संदर्प, वमतम व रिटर्न ऑफ़ गंगा संस्थाओं ने मिलकर "बाढ़ तबाही और उत्तराखंड के बाँध" शीर्षक से १२ मिनट की एक फ़िल्म बनायीं है जो हिंदी और अंग्रेजी में उपलब्ध है. फ़िल्म में उत्तराखंड आपदा में जल-विद्युत् परियोजनाओं के निर्माण की भूमिका पर चर्चा की गयी है. आपदा का कारण जलवायु परिवर्तन  पर उससे हुए नुक्सान में इन परियोजनाओं का बड़ा हाथ रहा है.

Return of Ganga, SANDRP and VAMTAM has produced a 12 minutes film Flood Ravage and the Dams of Uttarakhand (Uttarakhand Flood Disaster – June 2013), available in Hindi and English. This short film tries to give an idea of the role played by existing and under construction hydropower projects in the disaster. It presents information, photos, maps, videos, google images and voices of the affected areas and some first hand accounts of the impacts of hydropower projects on communities. While climate change was a trigger for the disaster, the role played by the blasting, tunneling, damming and deforestation, related to hydropower projects was significant.

This short film will be useful to all concerned including the media, various arms of the governments in Himalayan region in India and neighbouring countries, academic institutions, judiciary NGOs organisations and most importantly, the communities who have suffered in the disaster.
