चन्द्रापुरी गाँव (ज़िला रुद्रप्रयाग) में जून कि आपदा में, मन्दाकिनी में आयी बाढ़ में ५७ घर ज़मींदोज़ हो गए थे. आज, छः महीने बाद भी, कई प्रभावित लोग गौशालाओं या टेंट में किसी तरह रह रहे हैं. कुंदन लाल और उसके परिवार के सात सदस्य दो टेंटों में रह रहे हैं. त्रासदी के बाद से वे अब तक पांच गाँवों में, कभी यहाँ, कभी वहाँ भटक चुके हैं.
उत्तराखंड त्रासदी में ख़त्म हुए ३१०० घरों में से २४१० गाँव इलाकों में थे. मुख्य मंत्री विजय बहुगुणा ने घोषणा की थी कि जाड़ों के आने से पहले, आपदा प्रभावित लोग व्यक्तिगत घरों में चले जायेंगे, लेकिन अभी तक राज्य के किसी भी आपदा-प्रभावित इलाके में इस सम्बन्ध में कोई भी काम नहीं हुआ है.
चन्द्रापुरी से १५ किमी केदारनाथ की ओर सिमी गाँव में ज़मीन धँस रही है.
In Chandrapuri village (Rudraprayag district), 57 houses got destroyed from the gush that entered the valley and within a few hours the space earlier occupied by residential buildings got bulldozed over by the Mandakini river. More than six months after the disaster, many villagers reside in cow sheds and a few others in tents. Kundan Lal and his seven other family members live in two tents. The family has rotated between five villages post-disaster.
Of the 3100 buildings that were destroyed across the state in mid-June deluge, 2410 are in rural areas. Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna had earlier announced that the disaster-affected would be shifted to individual residences before winter sets in but not much work regarding housing can be spotted in any of the disaster-hit areas across the state.
15 km from Chandrapuri towards Kedarnath, in Simi village, land is sinking as a result of the mid-June disaster.
